Sources & licence

Public charge point location, availability and tariff figures are published by charge point operators under the Public Charge Point Regulations 2023. Per GOV.UK guidance, that data is to be made available free of charge without terms restricting use of the data, in line with the Open Government Licence v3.0. Individual operator names appear on each location. DriveCost is not affiliated with the Department for Transport or OZEV.

Methodology (prices)

• We read OCPI-style Tariff.elements[].price_components[] where type=ENERGY.
• If vat is present, we show an incl-VAT p/kWh figure.
• If vat is absent, we show excl-VAT p/kWh and label VAT not published — we never assume 20%.
• Board averages are computed separately for incl-VAT and excl-VAT rows. They are never mixed or converted. Rows with unknown VAT / no ENERGY price are counted but left out of both averages.
• Availability status is whatever the feed returned at fetch time (cached for offline builds).

## Regulatory basis

UK Public Charge Point Regulations 2023 require charge point operators to make
reference and availability data (and advertised tariff price components) available
free of charge in a machine-readable OCPI-aligned form, without terms restricting
**use of the data**. GOV.UK guidance states data should be open in line with the
Open Government Licence (OGL v3.0). Terms covering **means of access** (API keys,
rate limits) may still apply to gated feeds — those gated feeds are **not** used
in this build.
